Kicking Off Your New Swimming Pool Project: What to Expect After Signing

Signing your contract is the exciting first step toward building your new swimming pool. Here’s what happens next: from engineering plans to permit documents, utility markings and beyond, this article outlines the early stages of the process and connects you with detailed resources at each step.

Engineering Plans

The very first step is developing detailed engineering plans. We handle this work in-house, following a rigorous process that sets us apart from typical pool builders. These plans serve as the foundation for the permit application and for construction itself.

You can learn more about our unique engineering approach in this article: Swimming Pool Engineering Plans: All Pools Are Not Created Equal.

The pool plan development process usually takes about four weeks. After two to three weeks, we’ll schedule a plan review meeting with you to go over preliminary drawings and highlight any points that may require your input. Once adjustments are made, the plans are finalized and ready for permit submission.

We’ll send updates by email as the project progresses, including important safety notes and action items that may require your attention.

Permit Documents

Along with the plans, the building permit requires several supporting documents. We’ll prepare these in advance and review them with you during your plan review meeting. You’ll need to sign them, and we’ll handle notarization.

Utility Marking

As the engineering work begins, we contact Sunshine 811 to mark underground utility lines on your property. This step is critical for safety and accuracy in design. Please make sure your backyard is accessible so crews can complete this service.

Our goal is to keep things clear, smooth, and as enjoyable as possible. We’ll send updates by email as the project progresses, including important safety notes and action items that may require your attention.
